I mean, if it's just me and the hubby, it's easy enough to tell him which cheeses we're eating. But add a few more people and it's a lot easier to label the cheese than it is to tell people one at a time.
And the more people there are, the nicer it is to have those cheeses labeled.
And of course you can use the tiles for foods other than cheese, as long as the food is the right density to support the markers - they're ceramic, so they wouldn't work in guacamole, for example.
But they'd be handy on desserts, to let people know what flavor the cheesecake is (I've got cheese on the brain, I guess) or to label cake or brownies.
What you write on the tiles depends on your guests, I guess. Maybe you'd want to mention flavors, other times you might want to note that one dessert is gluten free and another contains nuts. Things like that.

There have been times I've considered making my own little cheese signs, but that just looks tacky. Or at least my ideas would have looked tacky - a toothpick and a piece of paper just isn't classy. Cheese tiles look kind of cool. And they come in different designs to match your plates or your personality.
Besides naming the cheeses, I found they were also handy for leaving messages. Because I'm silly like that.

What do you think? Do you think you'd use something like this?
