Hazelnut Smoothie

I always get a kick out of working with local companies, whether they're small companies or large.

International Delight happens to be a local company, and I was pretty happy to get another opportunity to work with them.

I'll admit that I haven't tried every International Delight creamer flavor, but I've tried quite a few of them. Some, I like in coffee. Others I like for baking, making ice cream, or for cocktails. Yup, cocktails. I like creamy cocktails, and in the summer, I like blended frothy cocktails.

My "favorite" flavor is usually the last one I bought. Or maybe I just have broad horizons. Yeah, that's it.  Seriously, though, some days I'm in the mood for something sweet and gentle, like the sweet cream that reminds me of melted ice cream. Other days I want something more robust like caramel or chocolate. Other times I feel festive and want a special seasonal flavor.

Yup, I'm fickle. I'll admit it.

My latest purchase was hazelnut, which is a classic flavoring for coffee.  But I've been on a smoothie binge lately, so I decided to whip up a hazelnut smoothie. The weather's getting warm and chilly drinks are a good idea.

The interesting thing here is how the banana played off of the other flavors.

Hazel's a Nut Smoothie

1 tray of ice cubes1 banana
2 teaspoons cocoa powder
1/2 cup Hazelnut International Delight Creamer

Yes, I know that "1 tray of ice cubes" is not very precise, but unless you've got outrageously large or ridiculously small cubes, you're fine.

Blitz the ice cubes in your blender, then add the banana and blend again.

Add the cocoa powder and Hazelnut International Delight Creamer. Blend until smooth and frothy.

Serve immediately

For an adult-oriented beverage, you could add an ounce hazelnut, coffee, or chocolate liqueur. Or even vodka or your favorite whisky.
